چکیده

This Letter presents CO , CO , CO , and CO spectra of the irregular J p 3–2 J p 3–2 J p 3–2 J p 2–1 starburst galaxy M82 taken with the 15 m James Clerk Maxwell Telescope. All maps exhibit a double-peaked morphology, despite evidence that the higher J transitions are optically thick. This morphology suggests that the double-peaked structure is not the result of an edge-on torus of molecular gas, as is commonly assumed. We observe line ratio gradients that can best be explained by a temperature gradient increasing from northeast to southwest in conjunction with a density gradient that increases in the opposite sense. These gradients may have been caused by the interaction with M81, resulting in increased star formation that both heats and depletes the molecular gas in the southwest lobe of M82. Subject headings: galaxies: individual (M82) — galaxies: irregular — galaxies: ISM — ISM: molecules — Local Group

Calculation of nuclear level density parameter as a function of tmperature and mass number

Nuclear level density is one of the most important concepts in nuclear physics; basically, it is the key in dealing with nuclear statistical problems. This quantity plays an essential role in the statistical calculation of reactor physics, astrophysics, researches in the average energy of heavy- ion collision and calculations related to neutron evaporation and other applications. This quantity ...

Optimization of thermal curing cycle for a large epoxy model

Heat generation in an exothermic reaction during the curing process and low thermal conductivity of the epoxy resin produces high peak temperature and temperature gradients which result in internal and residual stresses, especially in large epoxy samples. In this paper, an optimization algorithm was developed and applied to predict the thermal cure cycle to minimize the temperature peak and the...

Temperature, Salinity and Density Measurements in the Coastal Waters of the Rudsar, South Caspian Sea

CTD (conductivity, temperature and depth) data collected in the coastal waters of Rudsar in summer 2008 were analyzed to identify the isothermal layers, thermocline depth and vertical structure of seawater properties. During the survey, probe was released into the seawater column down to 117 m depth. Results showed a vertical variation of temperature between 29°C at the sea surface and less tha...

Photon-dominated Chemistry in the Nucleus of M82: Widespread Hoc Emission in the Inner 650 Pc Disk

The nucleus of M82 has been mapped in several 3mm and 1mm lines of CN, HCN, C2H, c-C3H2, CH3C2H, HC3N and HOC + using the IRAM 30m telescope. These species have been purposely selected as good tracers of photon-dominated chemistry. We have measured [CN]/[HCN]∼5 in the inner 650 pc galaxy disk. Furthermore, we have detected the HOC 1→0 line with an intensity similar to that of the HCO 1→0 line. ...

Vertical Structure and Double Diffusion Convection of the Water Column in the Southern Shores of the Caspian Sea

Background and Objectives: Different types of instability occur at sea. Layered structures are one of the most important physical phenomena in marine environments. Static stability and double diffusion are associated with density changes with respect to depth and temperature and salinity gradients, respectively. Due to the difference in temperature and salinity in the water column, marine areas...
